The game was blown wide open when
Katey Blummer (Jr., Naples, Fla.) hit a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sharks up 5-0. This was Blummer's first home run of the season as she went 1-for-3 in the game.
Haley Gonzales (So., Boca Raton, Fla.) also saw her first homer of the year to bring the final score to 6-0.
The Fighting Knights and Sharks remained scoreless through three until NSU put up a run in the top of the fourth. Granitto began the inning with a single down the left field line. She was driven home by a
Dajia Jones (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.) single to left center.
Haley Gonzales (So., Boca Raton, Fla.) followed that up with a single of her own but she and Jones would be left on base.
With one out in the fifth,
Sabrina Fischer (Fr., Loxahatchee, Fla.) singled up the middle followed by a walk by
Dakota Villella (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.). Granitto singled through the left side, finishing 2-for-4, to load the bases for Blummer who then homered to left field.
The Sharks threatened again in the top of the sixth as
Ashley Roe (Jr., Flower Mound, Texas) and Villella both saw hits, but the bases would be left loaded. Despite the pitching change by Lynn in the fifth, Gonzales was not done for the night as she scored the Sharks' final run in the top of the seventh off a two-out home run to left field.
